Cookie Policy
Last updated: April 11, 2026
This Cookie Policy explains how LingoLens ("we," "us," or "our") uses cookies and similar tracking technologies on our website. It should be read alongside our Privacy Policy, which explains how we handle personal information more broadly.
1. What Are Cookies?
Cookies are small text files placed on your device by a website. They are widely used to make websites work efficiently, remember your preferences, and provide information to site owners. Cookies may be "session" cookies (deleted when you close your browser) or "persistent" cookies (remaining on your device for a set period or until you delete them). Cookies may be set by the website you are visiting ("first-party cookies") or by a third-party service operating on that website ("third-party cookies").
2. Cookies We Use
We use the following categories of cookies:
2.1 Strictly Necessary Cookies
These cookies are essential for the website to function. They enable core features such as authentication, session management, and security. Without these cookies, the Service cannot operate properly. You cannot opt out of strictly necessary cookies.
| Cookie | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|
| session_token | Authenticates your logged-in session | Session / 30 days |
| csrf_token | Prevents cross-site request forgery attacks | Session |
| cookie_consent | Remembers your cookie preferences | 1 year |
2.2 Functional Cookies
These cookies remember your preferences and settings to provide a more personalized experience. For example, they may remember your preferred language, theme, or sidebar state.
| Cookie | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|
| user_preferences | Stores dashboard layout and display preferences | 1 year |
| sidebar_state | Remembers whether the sidebar is open or closed | 1 year |
2.3 Analytics Cookies
These cookies help us understand how visitors interact with the website by collecting information about pages visited, features used, and errors encountered. This data is aggregated and anonymized. We use this information to improve the Service and fix issues.
| Cookie | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|
| _ll_analytics | Tracks anonymous usage patterns and feature adoption | 1 year |
3. Similar Technologies
In addition to cookies, we may use similar technologies such as:
- Local storage: Used by the browser extension to store your settings, word bank cache, and learning data locally for offline access and performance.
- Session storage: Used for temporary data that is cleared when you close the browser tab.
4. Third-Party Cookies
Some cookies may be set by third-party services that we use:
- Stripe:Sets cookies necessary for secure payment processing and fraud prevention. These are governed by Stripe's privacy policy.
- Vercel:Our hosting provider may set cookies for performance monitoring and edge caching. These are governed by Vercel's privacy policy.
We do not use advertising cookies or allow third-party advertising networks to set cookies on our website.
5. Managing Your Cookie Preferences
You can control and manage cookies in several ways:
- Browser settings: Most browsers allow you to view, delete, and block cookies through their settings menu. Note that blocking all cookies may prevent LingoLens from functioning properly (e.g., you will not be able to stay logged in).
- Extension data: You can clear data stored by the LingoLens browser extension through your browser's extension management page.
For more information about managing cookies in specific browsers, visit your browser's help documentation.
6. Do Not Track
Some browsers offer a "Do Not Track" (DNT) setting. There is currently no industry standard for how websites should respond to DNT signals. LingoLens does not currently respond to DNT signals, but we do not engage in cross-site tracking or serve third-party advertising.
7. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our use of cookies or for legal and regulatory reasons. When we make changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
