This Cookie Policy explains how LingoLens ("we," "us," or "our") uses cookies and similar technologies on our website. It should be read alongside our Privacy Policy, which explains how we handle personal information more broadly.

Analytics cookies and session recordings are off unless you allow them. You can change your choice here at any time.
2. What Are Cookies?
Cookies are small text files placed on your device by a website. They are widely used to make websites work, remember your preferences, and provide information to site owners. Cookies may be "session" cookies (deleted when you close your browser) or "persistent" cookies (kept for a set period or until you delete them). They may be set by the website you are visiting ("first-party") or by a third-party service it uses ("third-party").
3. Cookies We Use
3.1 Strictly Necessary
These are needed for the website to work - signing in, security, and remembering the choices you make on this page. They are always on.

On our live site the session and CSRF cookies carry a __Secure- / __Host- prefix.
3.2 Analytics and Session Recordings (only if you allow them)
If you allow analytics, we use PostHog and Microsoft Clarity to understand how the website is used and to record sessions - a replay of clicks, scrolling, and page changes that helps us find confusing or broken parts of the site. Text typed into form fields is masked and not recorded; other text on the page may appear in a recording. Our administrative pages are not recorded.

4. Similar Technologies
We also use your browser's local storage, which works like a cookie but is never sent with every request:
- Preferences: display settings, filters, and in-progress state (for example, a lesson that is still saving).
- Usage events: a random identifier (
ll_anon_id) used to group the first-party usage events we record on our own servers - which pages you open, features you use, and errors - as described in our Privacy Policy. These events are not shared with advertisers or other companies. - Browser extension: the extension stores your settings, word bank cache, and a random install identifier in the extension's own storage.
5. Third-Party Services
Some pages hand you to third-party services that set their own cookies under their own policies: Stripe (checkout and fraud prevention), Google and Apple (if you sign in with them), and YouTube (embedded videos). We do not use advertising cookies or allow advertising networks to set cookies on our website.
6. Managing Cookies
- On this page: allow or refuse analytics and session recordings (section 1).
- Browser settings: most browsers let you view, delete, and block cookies. Blocking all cookies will stop you from staying signed in.
- Extension data: clear it from your browser's extension management page, or by removing the extension.
7. Do Not Track
Some browsers offer a "Do Not Track" (DNT) setting. There is no industry standard for responding to it, and LingoLens does not currently respond to DNT signals - but we do not track you across other websites or serve third-party advertising.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our use of cookies or for legal and regulatory reasons. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.
